Happily disappointed

Disappointments are inevitable.

You KNOW I've had my fair share of disappointments -- whether it was not getting cast as the role I wanted, not getting into my top choice of college, not getting the grades that I hoped for, not performing well at a concert, etc...

I'm not going to go into detail, but my most disappointing disappointments actually led me to some happier moments.

I'm by no means religious or spiritual, but I do believe that everything happens for a reason.

Listen... If you don't get the job you want, that's because there is a better one out there for you. If you don't get into the school you, that's because it wasn't the right fit. If your crush doesn't like you back or if you're broken up with, that's because it wasn't meant to be!

Don't let the disappointments stop you from moving on.

I can be obsessed with the future all I want (classic OCD bit), but life is so uncertain... and that's what makes it so wonderful.

As I think back on my most recent disappointments, I can't help but feel lucky that they happened. Because when one door closes, another one really does open. Because when one thing ends, another better one begins. Because if we always get what we want in life, we never learn to grow as an individual. Because, inevitably, we will be faced with even harder disappointments.. and after all, practice makes perfect ;).

Instead of obsessing over the sad things, think about what's good. Smile a little, it looks good on you.

And as always, I'm here for you.
